Success 4 CMS is dedicated to improving our public school system by educating our community on holding CMS accountable for increasing academic readiness, bolstering student outcomes and providing a safe learning environment for all children in the Charlotte Mecklenburg schools. Success 4 CMS is a non-partisan, non-profit organization consisting of parents, community leaders and concerned citizens who have come together to educate the populous on the failures of the current CMS Board. As we meet with leaders in the Charlotte- Mecklenburg community these are the immediate needs we see that need to be addressed by CMS in order to fulfill their duty of providing a quality education for our children:
In 2011, CMS was awarded the Broad Prize for Urban Education — an award that recognizes the district that has shown the greatest student academic gains nationally and demonstrated the strongest student achievement and improvement while narrowing achievement gaps between income and ethnic groups.
CMS has drastically fallen from the requirements to reach this type of honor currently. Success 4 CMS seeks to restore Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools into one of the nation's top performing school districts again.
“Charlotte-Mecklenburg is a model for innovation in urban education,” U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan once said. “It has taken on the tough work of turning around low-performing schools, created a culture of using data to improve classroom instruction, and put a laser-like focus preparing students for college and careers.”
To foster a populus that supports a CMS Board of Education that is accountable for its decisions and results, and is focused on academic success for all students, increasing learning outcomes, and ensuring post high school college/career readiness, school safety, fiscal responsibility and transparency.
